OEGSE also plays a leading role in bringing premier international sporting events to Edmonton while supporting grassroots and minor sport initiatives that help grow the game, inspire the next generation of athletes and strengthen communities across Central and Northern Alberta.
With a storied history including five Stanley Cups, a global legacy, a world-class arena, one of the most passionate fan bases, league-leading metrics across multiple categories, two of the best young players on the planet in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and 2025 and 2025 Western Conference Championships—the Edmonton Oilers are positioned for growth and success on and off the ice for years to come.
Daryl Katz acquired the Bakersfield Condors in 2014 and upgraded the franchise from the ECHL to the AHL as the primary development affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. The team has won two Pacific Division titles and made the postseason in all but one season since 2018. Known for its creativity in promotions, excellence in family entertainment, and commitment to the Condorstown community, the Condors is widely regarded as one of the most successful minor league franchises.
Since Daryl Katz acquired the Edmonton Oil Kings in 2007, the team has won three WHL Championships (2012, 2014, 2022) and one Memorial Cup (2014) and have seen 27 players selected at the NHL Draft—12 of those players chosen in the first two rounds. As of the 2025-26 campaign, the Oil Kings have graduated 20 players who have gone on to play in the National Hockey League. The Oil Kings led the WHL in attendance for the last three seasons, averaging more than 7,500 fans per-game.
